SIX fast rising ice hockey players have been called up for Scotland.

The players represent North Ayrshire Ice Hockey Club.

Flynn Massie (10) from Ardrossan, attends a Stanley Primary School Primary Six pupil and Liam Houston (10) from Saltcoats, a St Peter's Primary Six pupil, who both play as forwards with North Ayrshire Penguins (U12's) & North Ayrshire Stars (U14's) have been selected for the Scotland Under-11s team and all their hard work and dedication is beginning to pay off, with Flynn selected to captain the team.

North Ayrshire Ice Hockey Club assistant coach Jamie Easton said: “Flynn Massie was very honoured being asked to become the Scotland captain and his proud parents Kirsty, Colin, Lynsey and Billy have watched their boys flourish in the sport, both players have been instrumental in performing for their club and the national team."

Added head coach Shannon Laing: "I can honestly say the boys are a pleasure to work with. They are both full of fun but always put in their best efforts for their team. When I first met Flynn, I knew straight away he was captain material."

The duo have in the past few months taken part in three mini-conference tournaments (October 1, Dumfries Ice Bowl, January 2- 6 and April 3, both in Sheffield Ice Arena, resulting in Team Scotland coming from behind on the day to be crowned over all winners after two greatly fought semi-finals and a final.

?Harry Campbell (12) from Cambuslang, netminder for North Ayrshire Stars (U14's) and North Ayrshire Predators (U16's) and Jack Neil (12?) from Saltcoats, an Ardrossan Academy pupil, who plays defense for North Ayrshire Stars (U14's) & North Ayrshire Predators (U16) ?Stars players have been called up by the Scotland U13s team.

They both excel in their positions, and were part of the U11s team which made the final in Sheffield in 2016.

?North Ayrshire U14s Head Coach Scott Campbell said: "Neither Harry nor Jack made the cut for the U13s team last year against stiff competition but that hasn’t deterred them from going back and giving it their all this time around. Jack plays with composure beyond his years, reads the game well, and makes good decisions.

"Harry is a quality netminder, who focuses on making sure his positioning is always right, in order to compensate for his small stature."

Selected for Scotland U17s are Aaron Forsyth (15) from Aberdeen, who plays Netminder for North Ayrshire Predators (U16's) & North Ayrshire Devils (U20s) and Zak Kenneth (15) from Paisley, a forward with North Ayrshire Predators (U16's) and North Ayrshire Devils (U20s).

North Ayrshire U16s Head Coach Bryan Forsyth said: "?Aaron only came to North Ayr Ice Hockey Club towards the end of the 2016/2017? season from Aberdeen and made an immediate impact on our U16s team. His ability as a highly skilled netminder to win games for his team was evident from the off. Aaron has also regularly played up with the North Ayr U20s team this season and has since cemented his place within that group also.

"Zak has been part of North Ayr Junior Ice Hockey Club since the age of five and his strengths include being an extremely fast and agile skater while being in total control of the puck, demonstrating great puck control.

"He gracefully accepted the responsibility of the captain's role at the start of the season for the U16s and has shown great leadership qualities."

All six boys will be involved in a three-day Conference Tournament from May 26 to 28 at Sheffield Ice Arena when all age groups come together to compete against teams from the Midlands, the north, the south west and south east to be overall winners.
