HIBERNIAN 5

KILMARNOCK 3

DEFEAT against Hibs in a high-scoring contest at Easter Road, saw Killie miss out on a chance of claiming fourth spot.

However one point from their remaining three games will see the Rugby Park side clinch fifth, which would be a phenomenal achievement when you consider they were bottom of the league when Steve Clarke took over in September.

Killie were denied two penalty shouts in the first half, which saw Clarke sent to the stand for the second half after taking issue with officials at the interval. The first in six minutes saw Jordan Jones felled by Darren McGregor. Then in 24 minutes, Stephen O'Donnell was impeded by Lewis Stevenson.

However five minutes later Hibees broke the deadlock when Scott Allan picked up a return pass from Florian Kambert and sent a shot beyond Leo Fasan and into the net.

Killie equalised in 33 minutes when Jones swung over a cross and Kris Boyd netted, despite a suspicion of offside for goal number 22 of the season.

In 53 minutes John McGinn crossed for Steven Whittaker to drill home. Eight minutes later it was all-square again when Jones set up Stuart Findlay to knock the ball home. Three minutes later Hibs went ahead again when McGinn found Jamie Maclaren to net.

In 76 minutes Allan played in Kambert, who sent the ball under the goalie's legs.

Killie refused to buckle and in 80 minutes Boyd sent home a 30-yard free-kick.

But in stoppage time Brandon Barker went on a great run before shooting home.

KILMARNOCK: Fasan; O'Donnell, Broadfoot, Findlay, Taylor, Jones, Power, Dicker, Tshibola (Mulumbu 73), K Boyd, Erwin (Brophy 73). Subs not used: Burke, Simpson, MacDonald, Kiltie, S Boyd.
