Central Ayrshire U13 League Cup Final

KILWINNING RANGERS 5

GLENBURN 2

YOUNG Buffs went into this game as favourites after beating Glenburn twice in the league so far this season.

The Kilwinning side started quickly and took the lead directly from an Ethan Reilly corner and they raced into a three-goal lead.

Two quick goals from young Buffs striker, Kian Lynch, his first a clinical finish after a sublime through ball from strike partner Gary Brown and his second a superb team goal which saw the ball worked from the middle to the right flank before being squared to Lynch who make no mistake, saw them on easy street.

Ethan Reilly netted his second and Buffs' fourth with a speculative effort from the halfway line which the Glenburn goalie misjudged.

The young Buffs had effectively ended the match as a contest before half-time.

The second half started with Glenburn more of a threat. They pulled one back thanks to hesitancy in the Buffs defence. This seemed to anger the Buffs who retaliated by going straight up the right hand side of the park, Calum McAlpine combining to set up twin brother and Buffs top scorer, Stewart McAlpine, who cut n from the right and finishing low into the far corner to make it 5-1.

Glenburn pulled a goal back late on but it was too little, much too late.

Victory for the Buffs saw the trophy staying in Kilwinning and at Kilwinning Sports Club for two years in a row following the triumph of KSC United 2004s last year.

Skipper Jack McMahon was presented with the silverware at the end of the game.

It was a superb game and well-deserved victory for Charlie and Gary Brown’s young side, who sit joint top of their league and have also reached the final of the other CAYFA cup, The Brian Davies Cup.
