EVERGREEN goalkeeper Michael Wardrope is hoping to savour yet more glory with Kilwinning Rangers... at the ripe old age of 41.

Wardrope, recalled to the team following an injury to Adam Strain, played in the 4-1 win away to former side Irvine Meadow last Wednesday as his team secured a place in the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup semi-finals.

They will host Beith or Auchinleck Talbot in the last four on a date to be determined.

He said: "It was a good win for us and we played well against a Meadow side, who are going for promotion. Our finishing was good. We have gone from being relegation material last season to challenging for the league and we just came up short. It would be nice if we make the final and have a chance of ending the season with a trophy.

"I won three Premier Division titles with Meadow and one with Buffs so it would be good to win something again. I am enjoying playing and feel fit, I have trained through the whole season."

Boss Chris Strain said: "We played well and everything pleased me. That was a good bounce back for us.

He is hoping his former side will clinch promotion and added: "Hopefully Meadow go up and we get the derbies back. Everyone enjoys being involved in them."
