WEST Kilbride capped a fantastic season with an emphatic 3-0 win over Ardeer Rec to secure a third league title.

But the rain was the main factor on Friday night’s games, with four of the five matches taking place being decided over nine ends and the fifth being cancelled and rescheduled for this week - and it could prove crucial.

It was a formality for West Kilbride as they ran out 61-23 winners over Ardeer Rec after nine ends to move to an unbeatable 25 points for the season.

Two other places in the top four were confirmed with Kilwinning securing second place, despite still have to play their last game against Largs and Dalry and Glengarnock guaranteeing at least fourth place despite a defeat at the hands of Ardrossan.

Kilbirnie and Saltcoats will have to wait to see who gets the final spot in the Challenge Cup play-off between the top four sides after Skelmorlie v Saltcoats couldn’t be finished due to the rain.

Ardrossan managed a six shot win at Glengarnock to finish in sixth place.

Fairlie upset the odds at Kilbirnie to move to 8th in the league above Ardeer, who drew 45-45 with Largs Halkshill.

Games on Friday were counted as full matches despite only playing nine ends as per the league constitution.

Skelmorlie and Saltcoats will meet against this Friday with Saltcoats needing a bonus point win to leapfrog Kilbirnie into fourth place.

Kilwinning and Largs will face each other at a later date.
