FRUSTRATED Kilbirnie Ladeside boss Budgie McGhie conceded the red-carding of recent signing Ryan Hynes all but cost his team three points.

They went down 2-0 at home to Largs Thistle on Saturday.

The striker was sent packing just after the half hour for a challenge on goalkeeper Sean Graham, who needed treatment before he could carry on.

The Barrfields Park side went on to win the game 2-0 as they continued their impressive start to the season.

McGhie said: "I have watched the incident back and I have no doubt the referee was right with the decision. There is no way the challenge was premeditated, Ryan is not that kind of player. But he went for it and he caught the goalie. After that it was very difficult for us to get anything from the game as Largs had the man advantage.

"It's unfortunate Ryan will now be suspended for two or three games and that's something we could have done without. We also had a few players missing through injury, but I won't use excuses.

"I felt we played well in the first half but couldn't take our chances."

Ladeside on Saturday host Cambuslang Rangers and Budgie cautioned: "They have done well after being promoted, they beat Rob Roy 4-0 on the opening day and drew 3-3 with Clydebank. But we must avoid losing back-to-back home games and aim to take the three points. We should have players back from injury."

Free-scoring Beith striker Thomas Collins is impressed with the way his side have started the season after his hat-trick helped the Garnock Valley side hammer Rob Roy 7-2 in the Premiership.

He said: "We were just 2-1 up at half-time but upped the tempo and scored five goals after the break. It's a great start from us - we have won our opening three games, so hopefully we can defend the title."

Meanwhile Ardrossan Winton Rovers boss Stevie Wilson firmly believes his side's fortunes will improve after they suffered their first league defeat of the season.

They went down 2-1 at home to Shotts Bon Accord to leave them in 10th spot with five points.

Wilson said: "Of course the result was disappointing, but we missed quite a few chances and will have to start taking them when we are on top. We also lost a couple of silly goals. But we are still quite a new team and I would say this is a tougher league than the Championship in terms of the teams who are in it. We are at home to East Kilbride Thistle on Saturday, but we must look to win it."
