BUOYANT Beith earned praise from manager Johnny Millar after blasting into the second round of Scottish football's showpiece knockout event.

The Garnock Valley side defeated Nairn County 3-1 away from home in a William Hill Scottish Cup First Round tie on Saturday.

Their reward is a home second round clash with old rivals Linlithgow Rose, whom they defeated 2-0 in a first round tie at Bellsdale Park in 2010, on Saturday, October 20.

Millar said: "It was a very good performance from us and we played really well. The fans who travelled to support us were brilliant.

"We couldn't ask for more than a home tie and hopefully we go through. They're in the East of Scotland League and we will have them watched but I'm not even thinking about that game."

For now the manager's mind is firmly focused on Saturday's hotly anticipated Macron Scottish Junior Cup second round clash against local Kilwinning Rangers at Abbey Park.

He said: "Kilwinning have had had a tough run of games but I'm sure they will come good, but just hopefully not for Saturday. They have a good squad. We led 2-0 against them a few weeks ago in the league but conceded a couple of poor goals. It's a big game for us and I'm hopeful but not over confident we can get through."
