SCENES of shame involving Dalry Thistle supporters are being investigated by SJFA beaks, we can reveal.

The Merksworth Park club were at Thomson Park in Dundee on Saturday for a Macron Scottish Junior Cup tie against hosts Lochee United, which they lost 6-2.

Sportscene understand that alcohol was taken into the ground and confiscated and a flare was also thrown on to the pitch. Speculation also suggested other missiles may also have been involved.

SJFA secretary Tom Johnston said: "Some were drinking inside the park and the alcohol was recovered by the police. There was also a flare thrown on to the park.

"We will write to both clubs and ask them for their views. There is no suggestion of anything been thrown other than a flare. The SJFA committee will decide what if any action will be taken against Dalry."

The club this week confirmed they would not be issuing a statement.

However secretary Bill Daly said on Facebook: "The supposed China Cross shamed the club as a result of their behaviour. I am posting this as a Dalry supporter not committee. The shameful scenes at this game were atrocious.

"The club and committee are working hard to set the club to become a Premier Division team. The club will now be brought before the SJFA and dealt with."

Thistle look to be a club going places on and off the field after winning the McBookie Ayrshire District League title and starting their Championship campaign reasonably well, with manager Gavin Friels hoping they can compete in the top half of the table.

They will be hoping this controversy does not detract from that and can continue the progress the have made in recent seasons.
