KILBIRNIE LADESIDE 1

INJURY-hit Ladeside lost out narrowly to Pollok in a close encounter at Newlandsfield Park.

They suffered a blow before the game had even begun as number one Grant Hay picked up a knock and had to be replaced by Joe Wilton.

The home side began strongly and scored in 24 minutes through former Auchinleck Talbot and Ayr United striker David Gormley.

However back came Ladeside in 28 minutes when Jon Scullion whipped over a cross and former Ayr United youngster Peter McGill sent a looping header over Jordan Longmuir and into the net.

Pollok restored their lead nine minutes from time, when former Irvine Meadow man Stuart McCann netted.

Then with three minutes remaining , Ladeside could have snatched a point when a free-kick from just outside the box from Scullion crashed off the post.
