PENGUINS (U12's) v ABERDEEN LYNX (U12's)

THE Penguins welcomed Lynx to Auchenharvie for the home leg and the visitors surprised them by scoring seven minutes in. Penguins responded with three goals inside the next minute, the opener coming from Liam Houston and another before the first period ended.

The second period started with Penguins finding themselves short with a player in the penalty box for two minutes, but they rallied quickly and captain Flynn Massie scored two short-handed goals. This was closely followed by another four, including two from Emma Lamberton. Lynx pulled on back just a minute before end of the second.

The third period saw Penguins score another nine goals with hat-tricks coming from a number of players before Lynx clinched one back before the end.

Final Score 19-3 To Penguins - Goals: Hat-tricks from Liam Houston + 5 assists; Lennon Deeney, Emma Lamberton + 2 assists from captain Flynn Massie + three assists and Adam Bainbridge and one assist. There were two goals from Jacob Woods and one assist; a goal and assist from Conor Wood and a first goal with the Penguins from Oliver Turner, who has just moved up from Under 10's. Assists also came from Aaron Turner x 2, LMcD x 2 and Rocco Murray x 1, with MOM, Emma Lamberton.

North Ayrshire Devils V Aberdeen Lynx (U20's)

THE Devils' first home league game was going to be important as they looked to improve on a heavy defeat away to Kirkcaldy in the opening league game. It didn’t take long for the boys to open the scoring with a goal from Chris Burwood assisted by Liam Anderson and Andy Barr with 3:39 showing on the clock. Forty-five seconds later they had their second, scored by Jamie Miller and assisted by Ryan Campbell. The Devils then had a powerplay opportunity when Aberdeen lost a player for interference. With 22 seconds gone, the boys found the net with a goal from Andy Barr, assisted by Ryan Campbell. Aberdeen then had a player thrown out the game for checking from behind and with 22 seconds of the power play gone the found the net again, scored by Lewis Smith and assisted by Ryan Campbell and Liam Anderson. Aberdeen took a couple more minor penalties but the boys didn’t capitalise on the powerplays. With 15:04 on the clock, Barr got his second, again assisted by Ryan Campbell. Aberdeen were then to get their 2nd player thrown out of the game and with 50 seconds of the powerplay gone the boys scored their final goal of the period with Campbell scoring, assisted by Haydn Woods.

The second period was full of minor penalties for both teams. With 24:06 showing on the clock Zak Kenneth managed to find the back of the net assisted by Lucas Correia. At 28:44, Devils were back on the powerplay and with 21 seconds remaining the scored through Jamie Miller assisted by Haydn Woods and Ryan Campbell. Aberdeen finally managed to breach the Devils defence at 32:40 to score their first goal of the game.

Devils changed goalies for the third period, replacing Callum Lymburn with Jack French. It took 7:48 seconds of the third period before Devils scored again, Barr getting his hat-trick, assisted by Christopher Burwood. The Devils went on the powerplay at 48:46 and five seconds in, Jamie Miller completed his hat-trick, assisted by Ryan Campbell. Nineteen seconds later Woods scored, assisted by Jamie Miller. The Devils were then defending a five-on-three after they took two minor penalties but that wasn’t to stop captain Lewis Smith finding the net assisted by Andy Barr. With four minutes left, the boys were again defending a five-on-three and this time Barr scored the shorthanded goal. With 27 seconds to go Aberdeen scored their second. Final score: Devils 13 Aberdeen 2

Wild are a high and travelled to Murrayfield to play the Racers. This was always going to be tight and with a few penalty calls going against Wild, Racers took full advantage and that period ended 2-0 to Racers. The second period was goalless. Out for the third and Wild put massive pressure on the racers and pulled it back to 2-2, but the breaks they required didn't come and Racers scored a further two goals in the final minutes.
