NORTH Ayrshire Ice Hockey Penguins last weekend welcomed the Belfast Junior Giants U12s team to Auchenharvie.

With not many games played this season they were unsure of how tough their opposition from across the water would be.

The game started with a fantastic goal just 13 seconds in from North Ayr’s Emma Lamberton, assisted by Jacob Woods and Liam Houston.

The second period picked up pace with a steady flow of goals from North Ayr, the first from Liam Houston, assisted by Jacob Woods and Adam Bainbridge, the second Flynn Massie saw an opportunity and took it.

Houston managed the third, assisted by Lamberton and Massie.

Penguins Netminder Caiden MacColl swapped seven minutes into the second period, leaving the ice with a shutout.

Penguins' Lennon Deeney, assisted by Liam Houston and Rocco Murray managed the fourth.

The hosts then netted three more goals within a minute - the first from Jacob Woods and the second from Massie, both assisted by Houston and Rocco Murray. The final goal within the second period was from Adam Bainbridge, assisted by Lamberton and Lennon Deeney.

North Ayr started the third period strongly with Rocco Murray scoring, assisted by Emma Lamberton and Jacob Woods, this was closely followed by Houston, assisted by Netminder Calum Simmonds.

The Irish picked up pace. Jude Beattie scored assisted by Louie Graham and Reece Dalzell. This was closely followed by another goal from Aaron Welsh, assisted by Ben Miskelly.

North Ayr scored again through Woods, assisted by Murray and Houston.

Final score: North Ayrshire Penguins 11 Belfast Junior Giants 2.

North Ayrshire Stars then took on Belfast Junior Giants U14's.

Stars were a man down early on after a player was sent to the penalty box in 29 seconds, but they found the net 11 seconds later. Scoring was spread around the team.

Final Score: North Ayrshire Stars 10-3 Belfast Junior Giants U14's.
