A DOUBLE title-winning boxer from Ardrossan will be in action at a boxing show held in her home town this weekend.

Brooke Neely (13) of Irvine Vineburgh Boxing Club will be lining up in an event hosted by her club in Ardrossan Civic Centre on Saturday night.

The St Matthew’s Academy pupil also won the 46kg schoolgirls title at the Western District Boxing Championships at Ashgill Recreation Centre in Glasgow and won the Scottish schoolgirl 46kg title in the Scottish Championships at Ravenscraig Sports Centre two weeks later.

Recently-crowned West of Scotland boxing champion Matthew McDonald, also a member of the host club, will compete in the event.

Other fighters taking part are Kilwinning trio Mason Salmon (11) (30 kg) Bailey Sillars (13) (60 kg) and Lee Sean Collins (13) (55 kg). Also in the line-up are Liam Shields of Dreghorn (60 kg), Jay Crossan (13) of Castlepark 36 kg while Aaron Connor (11) (34 kg), Bradley Mallinson (16) (60 kg) and Jody Cairns (16) (57 kg) all from Irvine, also take part. Also in the Three Towns contingent are Steven Lee, who just lost out in a recent show at Greenock Boxing Club, twins Jack (13) and Logan McMillan (42 kg and 37 kg respectively) Liam McKenzie (16) (64 kg) and lightweight Aidan Gemmell (17) all from Stevenston.
