IRVINE Running Club brought 2018 to a close with their presentation of annual awards at a club event in Irvine Sports Club.

Trophies are awarded in a range of age categories based on performances in any six running events competed in during the year, with distances ranging from 60m up to the marathon. The world Masters Athletics comparison tables are then used to determine the winner in each age group. David Millar won the senior men's trophy for an incredible 10th time for his performances at 5k, 10k, 10mile and half marathon.

The evergreen 49-year-old, who continues to post times of under 33mins for 10k and under 55mins for 10miles, was also awarded the Ayrshire Harriers Trophy for the best runner aged over 40.

Jennie Jackson won the senior ladies trophy for the second year in a row with some impressive road performances and 67 year old John McGarry retained the M40 trophy with a series of amazing sprint times. It was good to see a new face at the club – David Blane - take the M50 trophy while club stalwart, Mike Flinn, was again the M60 winner. Andy Rennie was awarded the Endeavour Trophy in recognition of his long contribution to the organisation of the club and also for being selected to represent the British Age Group Triathlon team at the last four European Championships.
