ANGRY Irvine Meadow boss Brian McGinty this week hit out after he was sent off for disputing a key decision which could have cost his side victory on Saturday.

McGinty was sent packing after striker Roddy Paterson was adjudged offside late in the game against Largs when in a scoring position with the game ending 1-1.

The manager said: “Roddy was clearly 30 yards onside, there’s no doubt about it but offside was given and he could well have scored. These are the kind of decisions which can sometimes cost managers their jobs as they make all the difference in a game. There has to be more consistency.”

McGinty was disappointed not to win and said: “Hopefully we can still finish above Largs but it’s out of our hands now. We have a wee break now and then we play Auchinleck Talbot on April 17 and Beith on April 27.”

Meanwhile Irvine Victoria assistant boss Mark McCann was delighted as his team took a vital point, drawing 0-0 away to Kilsyth Rangers.

Now he is targeting five points for survival in the Championship as title chasers Rutherglen Glencairn visit on Saturday.

He said: “That was a great result as Kilsyth are a decent team. Five points should be enough to stay up but it will be tough on Saturday as Glencairn are chasing the league.

Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain was more encouraged with his team’s display, despite the 3-0 loss away to Pollok.

He said: “It was definitely a much much better performance than recent weeks, there’s been a lot more desire and togetherness from the boys.

“People will have a look at that scoreline and think it was a comfortable result for Pollok and it was far from it, but we need to dust ourselves down and get on with it.

“ It’s really frustrating, especially when the ref has gifted them an opportunity to go two goals up like

that.”
