A NEW amateur football club have formed in the Garnock Valley.
And the club have set themselves lofty ambitions of trying to emulate the success of the local, former junior football sides at amateur level.
Garnock Valley AFC were one of two new clubs set to join the Ayrshire amateur football ranks after their membership to the Scottish Amateur Football Association (SAFA) was confirmed at the organisation's annual AGM on Tuesday, June 6.
The North Ayrshire side will joing Cambusdoon AFC in competing in the Ayrshire leagues when they kick off in August this year.
And assuming that all clubs from last season continue to compete, they will be the third side in the Garnock area - joing Beith AFC and Kilbirnie United.
Dalry previously had a team in the amateur ranks however they folded after the 2021/22 season concluded.
They will enter into the bottom league in Ayrshire - though the exact league set up has not yet been decided. This will be confirmed at the Ayrshire Amateur Football Association's league formation meeting later this month.
One thing is for sure though - the Dalry, Kilbirnie and Beith based club will be looking to win their league.
Garnock Valley AFC confirmed their formation on social media, setting out their ambitions as a club.
A statement read: "Garnock Valley AFC is a new Saturday amateur football team based in the three towns of Dalry, Beith and Kilbirnie.
"These towns are very well known for there success in junior football and we are hoping to emulate this in the amateur game for the future.
"With very strong management, coaching staff, backing from sponsorships and a committed bunch of boys we believe this is possible."
The club will begin preparing for the new season oon Tuesday, June 20, and have invited those aged 16 or older who would be interested in coming along to get in touch.
