SALTCOATS VICTORIA 1

ANNBANK UNITED 2

TEN man Vics went down to Bankies after squandering an early lead at Campbell Park.

Saltcoats were on top in the early part of the game and went ahead in 12 minutes when Simon Johnston headed a cross into the net.

Midway through the second half, the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Adam Easdon was sent off for a handball inside the box. Gordon Wilson netted the resultant penalty-kick to square the match..

Ten minutes from time Annbank grabbed what proved to be the winner when substitute Jordan Barr ran through and the home trialist keeper saved his shot, however the ball fell to Sean Robertson who shot home.

BEITH JUNIORS 2000's

BEITH's decision to forfeit home advantage to secure a game, combined with playing certain players out of position almost certainly cost the team two points as their passing game literally got stuck in the mud at Corkerhill on Saturday.

The visitors started well but failed to capitalise on their superiority and were hit with a sucker punch when Hillwood took the lead courtesy of an own goal, following a ricochet from a corner-kick.

Beith started the second half as they had started the first but this time capitalised when Lewis Steele netted the equaliser.

Lee Salisbury then fired Beith in front, scoring direct from an inswinging corner-kick. Any hopes though that Beith would kick on from this were short lived when Hillwood equalised from the penalty spot.

The hosts took the lead for a second time. However Lewis was to have the final say on the day when he scored the second of a double which would secure a point for Beith, which was still a disappointment considering it was against a team at the lower reaches of the division.
