Beith Juniors 2000's

BEITH's dismal run of results continued last Saturday when they welcomed St Andrews of Greenock to the Beith Astro on league duty.

The game was played at a fantastic pace and both teams had chances in the first half but the visitors were more clinical with theirs and went into their half-time team talk one goal to the good.

Beith were like a different team at the start of the second half and were soon dominating possession and chances but for the most part without an end product. However, halfway through the half Beith produced a thing of beauty when Lee Salisbury played a reverse pass to flying full back Matthew Sloan in the box, who side stepped the full back with his left foot then fired in off the far post with his right foot for a wonderful and well-deserved equaliser.

However, the ecstatic scenes were short lived as St Andrews retook the lead almost straight from kick off courtesy of firing in from an indirect free kick after the referee adjudged big Cammy to have handled a pass back. This was a cruel blow to the Beith morale after fighting their way back into the game, a blow from which they couldn’t recover and subsequently conceded a killer third in the later stages.
