West of Scotland Cup Fifth Round

DIRRANS ATHLETIC 4

GLASGOW HARP 3

DIRRANS progressed to the last 16 of the second top knockout event with a brilliant performance against a strong Glasgow team who had already beaten the Kilwinning side's top flight rivals Shortlees this season.

Dirrans started strongly and after only five minutes Calvin Smith netted to put them ahead. John Pirie was then brought down in the box and Brian Strain made it 2-0 from the spot.

It was 3-0 in 23 minutes when Strain notched his second, finishing with a good shot. Harp pulled a goal back on the half hour with a strike which took a deflection. Pirie then scored but netted but was adjudged offside.

The visitors then made it 3-2 with a great header.

Just before half -time a great break from McManus saw him release Smith who squared it to Pirie who finished well.

After the break Harp threw everything at Dirrans, but couldn't break them down and Dirrans looked dangerous on the counter-attack.

With two minutes remaining to go Harp notched a third to make it a edgy last couple of minutes but the hosts held out for a memorable victory.
