West of Scotland Cup Fifth Round
ARDROSSAN CASTLE ROVERS 1
WEST KILBRIDE 3
SATURDAY's local derby went in favour of the visitors and earned them a place in the last 16.
The hosts have started well all season in games but they did the opposite and found themselves 3-0 down inside 20 minutes at the hands of a rampant Kilbride.
It was a game of two halves and after the break the boys had a chance to re-group and come out the second half a different team and scored straight from the off through a Justin Smith corner-kick being smashed home by David Henry.
The hosts threw everything at Kilbride in the second period, but ultimately came up short as the visitors defended well through out the game.
While it was not the best of derbies over the years, it was a great occasion for both sets of players o be involved in.
The Castle Man of the Match, sponsored by Spicy Hut Ardrossan was Kenny Pollock who had a terrific game and prevented the away side from scoring more on the day.
The hosts would like to wish west Kilbride all the best for the rest of the season.
ARDROSSAN CR: Pollock, Knox, Davidson, Brookes, Bickerton, Higgins, Smith, McLeod, Breen, Beveridge, Henry. Subs: Kilpatrick, Forbes, Harris, Wieringa, Oakley.
