ARDROSSAN CASTLE ROVERS 2
CUMNOCK AFC 1
CASTLE didn't start this promotion clash well and found the visitors hard to break down.
It was a game in which neither team could afford to make mistakes.
The home side took the lead inside half an hour when Craig Breen found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and calmly stroked the ball home. Just after this there were few chances created at either end.
However Castle netted again following a good run and cross down the right by Jason Kean which was headed home by captain Paul Brookes.
The visitors pushed late on and pulled a goal back at the death. However the boys ground out a massive three points which could be important come the end of the season.
Castle man-of-the match, sponsored by Spicy Hut Ardrossan, was Paul Brookes.
ARDROSSAN CR: Pollock; Smith, Brookes, Davidson, Kean, Arthur, Higgins, McLeod, Breen, Kilpatrick, Fraser. Subs: Beveridge, Dunlop, Easdon, Hodge, Coyle.
