PROLIFIC goalscorer Conor Sammon on Monday night finally left Kilmarnock for English Premiership side Wigan Athletic after the clubs agreed a £500,000 deal and is now focused on making his name in England.
The targetman, who made what proved to be a great farewell appearance with his 18th goal of the season in the 1-1 draw at Hamilton Accies on Saturday, had been attracting strong interest from Nigel Clough's Championship side Derby County, however Latics boss Roberto Martinez swooped an hour before the deadline with an offer which is rumoured to be worth a further £250,000 to Killie in add-ons.
The departing striker, who has been rejuvenated since Mixu Paatelainen took charge in the summer said: "It was a big decision to leave a club that has been so good for my career, but I'm a Wigan Athletic player now and I want to prove to everyone here they've made the right choice.
