BUOYANT Buffs closed within a point of second-placed Clydebank with a well-deserved win against a side who drew 2-2 at Abbey Park in October.

Chris Strain Jnr's side dominated from the start and in two minutes Ross Stewart shot home from close range, but the "goal" was chalked off as he was adjudged offside. Three minutes later at the other end, recent signing Martyn Campbell made a clearance from a cross into the penalty box.

Play was then confined to midfield for the next 15 minutes.

However Buffs came close in 23 minutes when a Liam McGuinness shot was saved by the home goalie. Then from Dean Agnew's resultant corner-kick, a Ross Stewart header was deflected wide by the home defence.

The deadlock was finally broken four minutes later when Joe Coleman played a cross field pass to Liam McGuinness and he found Ben Lewis, whose cross was blasted home from 14 yards by Dean Agnew. Then in 44 minutes the visitors doubled their advantage when an Agnew corner-kick was bundled home by Campbell, who netted his first goal for the club.

It was more of the same after the break with Buffs in command and two minutes in, McGuinness blasted the ball home from 16 yards.

Home goalie Adam Strain saw a rare moment of action in 65 minutes when he made a superb save to keep out a 25-yard shot.

Then eight minutes later the visitors went further ahead when Ian Cashmore and Joe Coleman combined to set up Stewart, who knocked the ball home from six yards.

In 81 minutes the Abbey Park side came close again when a Tommy Maitland shot was deflected wide by the home defence.
