PROLIFIC Kilwinning Rangers striker Bryan Boylan is setting his sights on Scottish Junior Cup glory after his wonder goal helped them blast into the quarter-finals.

Buffs pulled off one of their biggest wins in recent years when they defeated East League big guns Linlithgow Rose 4-1 at Abbey Park to ease into the last eight of the showpiece event.

Boylan scored the opening goal with an overhead kick as his team saw off a strong side who beat Irvine Meadow in the previous round and reached the last 16 of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

The target man was hugely impressed with his team's display and said: "I was delighted with my goal, it was a really good finish. Everyone to a man was outstanding and we controlled the game. I didn't feel we we were ever in any danger. "

Asked how well the side could do Boylan, who has scored 17 goals this season said: "We will be hard to beat. I think we can go all the way. I believe we are good enough to win the cup."

Buffs on Saturday host Cumnock in a Super First Division match and Boylan said: " We now have to focus on Saturday. We are unbeaten in four months and looking for that to continue."

Midfielder Ben Lewis also hailed the weekend performance and said: "It was a great win and I think Linlithgow were shocked at the quality we had. We scored some great goals and deserved the win. Hopefully we can get another home draw and can go further. That has to be one of our best wins but we went into the game expecting to get a result."

Manager Chris Strain was impressed with the showing and said: I felt it was a complete and comprehensive team performance. The guys at the back had a job do it and the guys in the middle of the park did their job as did the guys upfront. Linlithgow played to their game plan and they played theirs and ours was better on the day,"

He added: "Some teams might have been thinking they would like to play us in the quarter-finals but this result will possibly make them, sit up and take notice of us. It doesn't matter who we draw as it's the strongest quarter-final line up for quite a few years,"

Strain is now focusing on the crunch home league clash with Cumnock and said: "It's a massive match as I would say Cumnock are promotion challengers along with ourselves, Largs and Clydebank. If we win we can open up a six-point gap on Cumnock and that has to be the aim."
