ON-form Beith striker Kenny McLean is relishing a showdown with Garnock Valley rivals Kilbirnie Ladeside on Saturday, after helping steer his team into the quarter-finals of the West of Scotland Cup.

McLean scored twice in the 4-2 home victory against Kilsyth Rangers at Bellsdale Park.

Now his team head to Valefield Park for a Premier Division clash which will be the last game for both clubs before their ETHX Energy Scottish Cup quarter-finals which see Beith host Arthurlie and Ladeside face Pollok away on Saturday, March 12.

McLean said: "We are doing very well in the cups, although we didn't play as well as we can on Saturday. But it was good to go through and score a couple of goals. That must be me on 13 or 14."

Looking ahead he added: "We have a good record at Kilbirnie and will be looking to win the game. We have drawn a few games and lost some after conceding last minute goals. It's great to have a home tie in the Scottish Cup and we have a big incentive to reach the semi=finals."

Manager Johnny Millar said: "We showed some character to win after going behind but the most important thing was to get through. It's a big game for us against Kilbirnie and not ideal as it comes a week before the Scottish Cup but we are looking to win."

The boss is also savouring the showdown with former club Arthurlie and said: "I suppose the fact I played at Arthurlie adds a bit of edge of the game but it's a home tie and we will hopefully go through."

Ladeside will on Saturday look to bounce back following their 4-0 home defeat against Troon.
