KILBIRNIE LADESIDE 0

TROON 4

LADESIDE had a bad day at the office and were well beaten by a Troon team who were more organised, energetic and clinical in front of goal.

Troon took the lead in four minutes when an intercepted pass found its way to Dale Moore who cut into the box and played a pass across the 6six-yard box to Muir at the back post who calmly stuck the ball into the net. A couple of minutes later a cross field pass found Ure in space and he fired in a shot which went just wide of the target. Troon had another great chance when a Chris McKnight free-kick into the box was headed down by Keenan and Adam Forsyth had a great turn and shot which was well saved by Hughes low to his right.

Ladeside created their first opening in 16 minutes when Adam Forde linked up with Ian Gold who fired the ball across the six-yard box but found no takers.

The hosts were punished two minutes later when a Chris McKnight free-kick into the box was headed down by Dale Keenan to Jordan Muir who had an easy finish from eight yards into the net.

Home striker Martin Grehan fired an effort goalwards in 20 minutes but a Troon player headed off the line. The best chance of the half for Kilbirnie came two minutes later when David Anderson swept the ball out wide to Miller and his cross found Gold seven yards out but he headed straight at Ally Semple. Ladeside were dealt a blow when centre half Mick O’Byrne limped off after half an hour with Ciaran Donnelly replacing him

Ladeside had a claim for a penalty waved away when Forde played Gold into the box and he appeared to be nudged from behind although he should have got an effort on goal away much quicker. The last chance of the half fell to Troon when a ball in behind the Ladeside defence found Forsyth but the striker fired his effort well wide.

Troon extended their lead just two minutes into the second half when a quick break saw the ball played through the Ladeside defence to Forsyth who ran on before calmly side footing the ball beyond Kieran Hughes in the Ladeside goal.

The Ladeside keeper made a vintage when a quick Troon free-kick was played in to Forsyth who headed the ball towards the top corner but Hughes finger-tipped the ball over the cross bar.

On the hour Kieran Brannan played a good ball through to Caolan McAleer but his first touch let him down, allowing Semple to save.

McAleer then forced Semple into another good stop when he cut inside from the right and fired in a powerful shot. The resultant corner was headed out only as far as Stephen McKeown on the edge of the box but his shot was deflected over off a Troon defender.

With time running out a quick break by Moore on the left saw him cross to the back post for Forsyth to head into the net and although he appeared to be in an offside position with no assistant to help him, the referee awarded the goal.

In added time the referee again waved away appeals for a Ladeside penalty when Anderson was fouled inside the box.
