FOCUSED Beith boss Johnny Millar hopes his side's impressive home form will help them progress to the semi-finals of the ETHX Energy Scottish Junior Cup on Saturday.

The Bellsdale Park club host the manager's former club Arthurlie in a mouthwatering quarter-final tie.

But their preparations were hampered when the scheduled Super Premier Division match away to derby rivals Kilbirnie Ladeside was called off.

Millar said: "We would have liked to play on Saturday but the pitch was unplayable, although Kilbirnie did their best to get the game on. But we look forward to the cup tie and the fact that it's against my old club will add a bit of an edge to it.

"I think it's a 50-50 match and it could be close. We wanted a home tie and have only lost once at Bellsdale Park this season. Hopefully we will go through."

Striker Thomas Collins, sidelined for a month with medial ligament, damage, could return for the game.

Meanwhile Beith and Arthurlie are warning an alcohol ban will be enforced at the game.

They said in a joint statement: "Strictly no alcohol will be allowed to be brought into the ground by any spectators. Persons attempting to gain entry whilst carrying drink will be refused entry and anyone found to be in possession of alcohol will be asked to leave. Persons who are suspected of being under the influence of drink or drugs will also be refused admittance."

Ladeside are away to Premier Division rivals Pollok in another Scottish Cup quarter-final tie and will be going all out to progress to the semi-finals. As we went to press we were unable to contact boss Stephen Swift.
