ELATED Beith Juniors manager Johnny Millar paid tribute to his team as they stormed into the semi-finals of the Scottish Junior Cup for the first time in more than two decades on Saturday.

Now he is hoping they can go all the way and lift the trophy.

Millar's side defeated his former team Arthurlie 3-1 in a quarter-final tie at Bellsdale Park to progress to their first semi-final since 1991-92 when they went down 4-1 to Glenafton Athletic at Somerset Park.

The boss won the trophy as a player and described the success as being up there with the best in his career,

Millar was delighted with his team's performance and said: "From start to finish we played very well and could have won by even more had we taken some of our other chances. It was a very good team performance and our strikers Kenny McLean and Andy Reid did what they do best which is scoring goals I have won the League and the West of Scotland Cup but this has to be up there with my best moments in the game. Now we look forward to the semi-final and it doesn't matter who we play. All the teams are good. Of course we have a chance of winning it."

However the manager is now putting the cup to the back of his mind as he focuses on the Premier Division campaign with a game away to Glenafton Athletic scheduled for Saturday.

He said: "We can put the cup on the back burner. Now we will focus on the league an want to make sure we are safe. Hopefully we can take three points on Saturday and start pushing up the table."

Meanwhile Kilwinning Rangers midfielder Dean Agnew and goalscorer Ian Cashmore are hoepeful their side can see off Camelon in a Scottish Cup quarter-final replay on Saturday.

Buffs drew 3-3 at home in in a thrilling quarter-final tie, with Agnew setting up Cashmore for the vital third goal.

Agnew feels their fighting spirit will stand them in good stead and said: "It was a good game with loads of goals. Each time we go a goal down we don't feel we are going to lose and we have the fight to come back. The game is there for the taking."

Cashmore believes his side can play better and said: "I was in the right place at the right time and delighted to get a goal. It was a good pass from Dean. We didn't really play that well. I know we can do better, but Camelon are a good side.. We will always score goals and are confident that we can go there and win on Saturday."
