BACK in 1999, Barry Fleeting celebrated from the terracing as Kilwinning Rangers lifted the Scottish Junior Cup by defeating Kelty Hearts at Firhill.

Now the defender is heading to the Kingdom of Fife to turn out for the Abbey Park side in a tie which will bring back great memories for many Buffs fans.

The two old rivals will square up in a last 16 tie (fifth round tie) at New Central Park on Saturday, February 18.

Kelty are unbeaten in 19 games in the East Superleague and are rated second favourites for the trophy at 4-1, while last season's semi-finalists Buffs are in bottom spot in the Super Premier Division and rated outsiders at 25-1.

And Fleeting admitted it could hardly be tougher.

He said: "I remember being at Firhill to see Kilwinning win the cup and this tie will bring back a lot of memories of the final. But it's as tough a draw as we could possibly have got as they are a good side. It will be the third time we have been drawn away in the Scottish, but hopefully we can get through. We have a big incentive to win as we are in the semi-finals."

Meanwhile Buffs on Saturday host fellow strugglers Kilbirnie Ladeside.

Abbey Park manager Chris Strain said: "It's a five-way scrap to avoid the bottom three places between us, Largs, Kilbirnie, Troon and Hurlford. I saw Kilbirnie's game at Beith and they were lucky to take anything from it. But they showed good fighting spirit to come back and draw the game. We must look to win the head-to-heads against Kilbirnie, Troon and Hurlford, which are all at home."
