McBookie Ayrshire District League
MUIRKIRK JUNIORS 1
ARDEER THISTLE 3
ON-FORM Thistle racked up their third straight competitive win as they overcame the basement dwellers at Burnside Park.
Ardeer made a number of changes from the previous week's victory over Whitletts with goalkeeper Ian McIntyre and striker Derek Kennedy making their debuts. Gordon Wilson started in midfield after coming off the bench the previous weekend and Michael Holden returned in defence.
Muirkirk have yet to pick up a point at their home ground in the league this season, but went ahead after 10 minutes when winger Ryan Beveridge opened the scoring. However, Ardeer were able to equalise before the interval, Lee Munro finding the net to take his tally to eleven goals in all competitions so far this season.
With the scoreline level at the break there was all to play for in the second half.
Thistle went 2-1 up when midfielder Jordan Bruce scored his first goal since August and sealed the victory later in the half when captain Jamie Donnelly struck a cracking effort past Muirkirk goalie Robbie Wilson.
