OPTIMISTIC Beith Juniors manager Johnny Millar believes his side have an outside chance of winning the title after weekend results went their way.

With Auchinleck Talbot drawing against leaders Kirkintilloch Rob Roy and Glenafton Athletic losing at home to Hurlford United, the Premier Division table has opened up.

Beith are a point behind Rob Roy, their opponents at Bellsdale Park on Saturday, although the Lanarkshire side have a game in hand.

They are a point clear of Glens and two ahead of Talbot, although have played two games more than both.

Millar, who won the Premier Division title with Beith in 2010 and the Scottish Junior Cup last season, said: "We have an outside chance of winning the league. If we can get to 44 points we will see where that takes us. If we can win on Saturday we will see how we get on after that. Glenafton still have play Rob Roy twice so something has to give there."

Beith tonight (Wednesday) are away to Annbank United in an Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup quarter-final after defeating Irvine Meadow on penalties in Saturday's second round tie.

Millar said: "I know it was never going to be an easy tie on Saturday as Meadow are a good team with a couple of cracking players and it was never going to be easy. Annbank will be going for it and look forward to playing us but hopefully we can get through."

Ardrossan Winton Rovers boss Sandy MacLean admits his team are "massive underdogs" as they head east to Beechwood Park to face Auchinleck Talbot in another Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup quarter-final.

He said: "I have a huge amount of respect for Tucker Sloan and all the work he is doing at Auchinleck. I know they are looking at winning the league and Scottish Cup but every competition matters to them and they lose very few games at Beechwood Park.I watched them come from 2-0 down to beat Troon in a cup tie last Wednesday. We are massive underdogs but I would encourage the players to go and enjoy the game and they can see what it's like playing at another level. It will be good for guys like Jordan Cairnie and Larry McMahon to play in a game like this."

Added MacLean: "Hopefully we don't lose an early goal. You never know what can happen in a cup tie. We beat Irvine Meadow in the semi-final and Cumnock in the final in 2013."

Meanwhile Kilbirnie Ladeside assured survival in the Super Premier Division after Kilwinning Rangers lost 3-1 away to Arthurlie.

Secretary Gordon Ronney said: "Thankfully we are safe, the focus now is on next season."
