PROLIFIC striker James Marks has been linked with a possible surprise move to Ardrossan Winton Rovers to help spearhead the club's expected Ayrshire District League title assault.

Speculation of a move was fuelled when the player refused to re-sign with Largs Thistle last week following a disappointing season which saw the Barrfields Park club relegated to the Super First Division.

And he could be poised for a reunion with Winton boss Sandy MacLean, for whom he also played at Arthurlie.

He is in his second spell with Thistle and could played in the 2010 Scottish Junior Cup final.

In 252 appearances for Largs, he has scored 81 goals.

MacLean said: "I have released two strikers - Harry Donaldson and David McNeil, so it's obviously an area I want to strengthen,"

So far, Dylan Caddis, Regan Ross, Tam Jamieson, Andy McGregor, Marc Davidson, Steven Tan, Jordan Cairnie, Ross Kearns, Bobby Colligan, Ryan Caddis and Larry MCMahon have re-signed. lan Jamieson is recovering from knee surgery and hopes to be back in September while Adam Easdon will complete pre-season training before sitting down with a view to striking a new deal.

Winton have arranged four friendlies. They are at Petershill on Wednesday, July 19, host Kirkintilloch Rob Roy three days later and are at Johnstone Burgh on July 26. They then head to Benburb for the Dennis Donnelly Memorial Trophy on Saturday, July 29.

Meanwhile Kilbirnie Ladeside boss Budgie McGhie this week made the final addition to his backroom team by bringing in former Hamilton Accies player Gary Lynn.

McGhie said: "Gary was a good player and was at Arthurlie and Clydebank. He was the Clydebank captain when we played Auchinleck Talbot in the Scottish Cup final at Rugby Park. Now he has his coaching badges and it's good to have him on board."

Ladeside will return for pre-season training on Wednesday, June 28.

They have also confirmed details of pre-season friendlies. Action gets underway with the Kilbirnie Ladeside Tournament on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16. Other clubs taking part are Rutherglen Glencairn, Larkhall Thistle and Stranraer Under-20s.

Then on July 22, Shettleston are the visitors to Valefield Park and a week later Kilbirnie visit Tranent.

Kilwinning Rangers have offered veteran midfielder Liam McGuinness a new three-year-deal.

Boss Chris Strain said: "Liam was outstanding for us in the semi-final against Auchinleck last week and he has a few years in him yet."

All players have been re-signed apart from striker Ian Cashmore, who Strain feels needs a move for more game time and defender Sam McCloskey,
