EXPERIENCED former St Mirren striker David McKenna has been snapped up by Beith Juniors.

McKenna (30) was with Annan Athletic last season and has spent his entire career in the SPFL, starting out at St Mirren before spells with Stranraer and Cowdenbeath among others.

Assistant manager Stevie Convery said: "Scoring was something of a problem for us last season and David knows his way to goal. He has good experience at senior level, in the Championship and the two lower leagues and I am sure he will do well for us. We look forward to see him in action during the pre-season.

Beith have also been boosted with the news that 10 players from last season's squad have been re-signed. They are goalkeeper Stephen Grindlay,

Kevin MacDonald, Mark McLaughlin, John Sheridan, Nicky Docherty, Jamie Wilson, Richie Burke, David "Div" McGowan, Darren Christie and Thomas Collins

Back-up goalkeeper James Digney will also sign soon.

The club have also signed Cami Elliott from their Under-19s team on a professional contract and brought in inventive winger Joe Bradley on a permanent deal from Queen's Park.

Josh McArthur has moved to BSC Glasgow and Calum Watt is moving on. Ross "Archie" McPherson is potentially moving abroad for work reasons but will sign if this doesn't happen.

Conner McGlinchey and Paul Frize have both signed two year deals, keeping them at the club until 2019.

Striker Kenny McLean, who is recovering from a cruciate ligament operation and will be out until the end of the year, is expected to sign a new deal soon.

A Testimonial Match will be played at Bellsdale Park on July 15 to mark McLean's 10 years with the club, although due to injury the player will only be involved in the ceremonial kick-off.

He will be in charge of a Beith Select, featuring players from his time at the club to take on the current first team squad.

Paying tribute to the target man, secretary Robert McCarter said: "In the 10 years Kenny has been at Beith he has been part of a wonderful group who have brought all the main trophies to Bellsdale and with his goalscoring record added to this must make him in the top 10 best ever Beith players."
