ARDROSSAN WINTON ROVERS 3

BEITH 4

WINTON pushed the 2015-16 Scottish Cup winners all the way after storming into a shock 3-1 lead.

The hosts shocked their Premier Division opponents by opening the scoring in three minutes when Jamie McKenna robbed a defender out on the left touchline, ran in on goal and shot past Steven Grindlay from the edge of the box.

Rovers doubled their lead in 17 minutes when Jordan Cairnie headed the ball to the back post where Kevin Struthers was on hand to knock it home home.

Beith pulled a goal one back when the ball bounced over a defender's head and Thomas Collins got in behind, ran into the box and fired a low shot past Bryan Tucker from 15 yards. Winton restored their two-goal advantage in 37 minutes when Lee Davidson won the ball at the left corner flag, got into the box and cut it back to Jamie McKenna who netted at the near post. It should probably have been 4-1 in 40 minutes when a defender missed a Jamie McKenna through ball.

Lee Davidson got in behind and with Grindlay coming off his line he shot narrowly wide.

Beith made it 3-2 in 50 minutes when they won a free-kick 20 yards out and although the initial shot was blocked and the follow-up was well saved by Tucker at the foot of the post. David McKenna scored from a couple of yards at the back post.

It was all-square in 55 minutes when a corner-kick wasn't dealt with and McKenna headed home. The comeback was complete in 71 minutes when Tucker failed to come for a Joe Bradley cross and McKenna headed home for his hat-trick.

Tucker pulled off a string of saves, including an incredible point-blank one from McKenna as Beith looked for more goals.

Winton were denied a potential point at the death when Steven Tan was fouled twice in the box after he had won the ball on the right bye line.
