KIRKINTILLOCH ROB ROY 5

KILBIRNIE LADESIDE 2

LADESIDE will be disappointed with the final result in this match after making a great start with two goals in the first seven minutes.

It was the away side who started the better and took the lead after three mins when Reece Williamson played the ball forward to Jon Scullion on the left side of the box and with McKinven off his line the Ladeside striker delightfully chipped the ball over him into the far corner.

They could have increased their lead two minutes later when David Anderson won the ball in midfield for Scullion who sent a pass between the Rob Roy defenders to set Peter McGill running through on goal but he hit his shot straight at McKinven.

Kilbirnie, however only had to wait another two minutes before they increased their lead when a corner in was knocked out as far as Anderson and he played the ball wide to Juskowiack who sent a cross beyond the far post where Scullion was lurking to guide a fantastic lob back over McKinven into the far top corner of the net.

Rob Roy started to get a bit of the ball after that and they pulled a goal back after 13 minutes when a long cross into the box was headed back across goal and Watt had a free header from close range to send the ball past Kieran Hughes into the net.

McCulloch then headed over before Mackie brought a good save out of Hughes. Kilbirnie then had two more good chances when firstly Scullion sent a crossfield pass to Kris Lafferty who back heeled the ball to Mitchell but his shot was saved at the near post by the Roy keeper. They were then awarded an indirect free-kick when McKinven picked up a back pass and Scullion fired a shot into a wall of bodies on the line and when the rebound fell to Lafferty he smashed a shot which came back off the post. In the final minute of the half, Scullion nicked the ball on the left edge of the box and he slipped it across to John Sweeney 12 yards out, in front of goal but he screwed his shot wide.

Kilbirnie lost their momentum in the second half and it was Rob Roy who were dominating the play and they came close in 56 minutes when a Gallagher free-kick to the back post was headed just wide by McMenamin.

Kirkintilloch pulled level in 64 minutes when Law was given too much space and he slipped a pass into the path of MacKenzie who fired a shot from 18 yards into the net past Hughes at his near post. Substitute Bradley Rodden had a rare second half chance for Kilbirnie when a long ball was misjudged by Mcmenamin but the Ladeside striker pulled his shot across goal and wide of the target. Rob Roy went in front in 75 minutes when Mackie picked up the ball in midfield and he was given too much space before firing a long range shot from 30 yards past Hughes into the top corner.

Another good chance for Ladeside fell to Cory Hughes from a Scullion free-kick into the box but the Ladeside defender headed well wide from eight yards.

Rob Roy increased their lead in 83 minutes when a Mackie free-kick into the box found Carrol unmarked to head past Hughes.

With a few minutes remaining Ladeside's misery was complete when after saving a McMenamin header on the line Hughes reacted to a tangle with the Roy captain and lashed out catching him on the head with his boot which earned the keeper a straight red card and a penalty being awarded. Carrol smashed the spot kick past sub keeper Wilton for his second of the game to complete the scoring.
