ANGRY Kilwinning Rangers manager Chris Strain has hit out at the dismissal of midfielder Findlay Frye, which left his side facing an uphill struggle at Beith.

The Abbey Park side suffered their second defeat on the bounce as they lost out 2-1 at Bellsdale Park to a home side, who have a 100 per cent record and are being tipped as title contenders.

Strain, who was himself sent off for comments made to officials admitted the sending off for a second booking was hard to take and said: "I felt Findlay's sending off was harsh. There was nothing in the second challenge and that made it difficult for us."

He added: "I really believe had it been 11 against 11 we would have got something from the game. I would say Beith were a bit lucky to be 1-0 ahead at half-time. The first goal was an unfortunate one to lose as it came about when Carlo Monti went to clear the ball and it took a deflection off Jamie Whyte before ending up in the net. As far as the second one goes, Mark Campbell was fouled at the edge of the box, but play was waved on and the ball broke to Paul Frize, who scored."

Buffs, who lost at home to Pollok in a close contest the previous weekend, are back in action at Abbey Park on Saturday.

They play host to a Girvan side who are unbeaten in their opening three games and drew 2-2 at Pollok at the weekend.

The manager said: "We came up against Girvan in the District League a few years back and they must be a good side if they can go to Newlandsfield Park and take a point. But it's a home game for us and we're looking for the three points."
