NEW Ardrossan Winton Rovers manager Bryan Slavin hopes to help the team push up the league after taking over the hotseat on Wednesday night.
He will see his team in action on Saturday at home to Whitletts Victoria but will only have a watching brief as senior players Tam Jamieson and Alan Muir will take the team as had been arranged.
Slavin, who has brought his former manager Drew Walsh on to the coaching staff, said: "Winton are a massive club - a Super League team playing in the District League. They have great facilities and we just have to improve things on the field.
"I know Winton Park well since I'm from Saltcoats and played there so many times. But I was given a tour of the park on Thursday night and saw all the strips hanging up in the dressing room and felt really quite excited. I just can't wait to get started. The aim will be to take three points on Saturday and get closer to Irvine Vics in the league."
Slavin says he will assess the squad and see what changes need to be made.
He said: "The current players will all have a chance of showing what they can do and it would be good if they all really did well, I wouldn't have to do much. But I expect I need to fill holes in some positions.
"I look forward to working with Drew Walsh as we got together at Saltcoats Vics when he was my manager and I plan to bring in another coach."
He left Largs last October and late last season had a short playing spell with Irvine Vics.
However he doesn't expect to pull on his boots again and added: "I would rather concentrate on managing, that's the priority."
