KILBIRNIE LADESIDE 2

CLYDEBANK 1

LADESIDE ran out narrow winners in this Super League Premier match, coming from a goal down to snatch the points with two quickfire goals from Reece Williamson.

Kilbirnie were first to threaten when Lumsden took a bit too much time with a clearance which cannoned off James Finlay who was closing the keeper down but the ball went just wide of goal after cannoning off the Ladeside striker.

Ciaran Lafferty had a chance for the visitors when hesitation in the Ladeside defence let him in behind but Joe Wilton did well to tip the ball over the bar. ~David Anderson and Jon Scullion then combined to set up McKinnon but he dragged his shot across goal and wide of the target.

Scullion then had a shot from the edge of the box but Lumsden saved comfortably before David Anderson set up Scullion whose 25-yard shot went over the bar.

In 40 minutes, Juskowiack made a timely block from Pearson after a good cross in by Verlaque. Some good interplay between Scullion and Finlay set McGill on a run towards goal but his effort from distance was easy for Lumsden. A minute into added-time Clydebank came close when a Watt corner saw Wilton miss time his punch clear and McKinnon headed clear from goal. From the resulting corner Vezza headed wide.

Clydebank started brightly in the second half and Wilton tipped a curling Ryan Deas shot over the bar before Docherty headed wide at the back post from the resulting corner.

The visitors took the lead five minutes later when a quick counter-attack saw Verlaque cross into the middle for Lafferty to head into the net from eight yards.

Ladeside hit back midway through the half with two goals in the space of two minutes. A Scullion free-kick was headed out but the ball was played wide to Gavin Mitchell, who crossed to the far post for Williamson to power a header beyond Lumsden at the back post.

The hosts went in front when a good surging run by Anderson saw the midfielder find Scullion and he played the ball through for Finlay whose shot went right across goal where Williamson steamed in to fire the ball into the net.

Ladeside were looking for another goal when Scullion played in Finlay but his shot was well saved by Lumsden.

Clydebank kept pressing for an equaliser and came close three minutes into added-time when Vezza looped a header toward goal over Wilton but Williamson was on hand to head off the line to ensure Kilbirnie secured all three points.
