ANNBANK UNITED 2

ARDROSSAN WINTON ROVERS 5

NEW signing Thomas Donovan bagged a double as Winton swept aside Bankies in a game which was switched to Dam Park Stadium.

The visitors had the first chance in six minutes when Marc Fisher could only parry a long range shot from Regan Ross into the path of Alan Jamieson but he headed wide. Three minutes later an Andy McGregor header from a Ross free-kick was saved by Fisher.

United took the lead in spectacular fashion in eight minutes when Maclean Simpson hit a shot from almost the halfway line past Bryan Tucker. However two minutes later Donovan got the ball on the edge of the box and hammered it into the roof of the net.

Donovan was causing United’s defence problems and put Rovers in front for the first time on the half hour when Fisher failed to hold a Larry McMahon shot and Thomas Donovan knocked the ball home for his second goal.

Six minutes later, following a good Winton move down the right Donovan swung over a great cross into the goalmouth where an unmarked Jamie McKenna scored with a diving header.

In 53 minutes Rovers paid for their missed chances when Simpson crossed to an unmarked Dillon Dunn at the far side of the goal and although Bryan Tucker got a hand to his shot the ball ended up in the back of the net.

Winton received a boost with 10 minutes to go when with Donovan running in on goal Marc Fisher, who had a great game, came sliding out of his area and handled the ball and was sent off and Andy Hainey replaced him in goal.

Winton made it 4-2 when Jamie McKenna got on the end of a ball to the edge of the box before lobbing it over the advancing Hainey in 85 minutes. With two minutes left McKenna picked up the ball and ran on before shooting home from the edge of the box to net his first hat-trick for the club.
