KILBIRNIE crashed out of the West of Scotland Cup after a narrow home defeat by Hurlford.

Ladeside dominated most of the possession in the first half but failed to capitalise on any opportunities created and Hurlford resorted to some robust challenges to stop the home side when in full flow.

Iain Fisher was lucky in 11 minutes to only receive a yellow card for a bad challenge on Reece Williamson and two minutes later, Glen Mitchell followed him into the book for a late challenge on Mat Burbridge on the edge of the box.

The first real effort on goal came in 23 minutes from a Jon Scullion free kick after McKillen had been yellow-carded for a late challenge on Burbridge. However he sent his effort just over the bar.

The last action of the half gave Scullion a chance with another free kick from the right side edge of the box but his dipping effort over the wall was tipped over by Brown.

In the second half saw the visitors pressed more and they took the lead shortly after the break when a cross into the box by Watt was punched away by Kieran Hughes. but only as far as McKillen and his mishit shot fell to Ross Robertson eight yards out and he prodded the ball past Hughes and into the net.

Hurlford doubled their lead when Mckenzie crossed from the right to find Robertson free at the back post with an easy header past Hughes into the net.

Ladeside looked to hit back and some great play by Davie Anderson saw him break past a number of challenges into the box but his effort to cut the ball back was blocked for a corner.

Hurlford looked out of sight in 73 minutes when Fisher crossed and Ross Robertson stooped to head home from close range to complete his hat-trick. Ladeside got back into the match after another driving run by Anderson playing a give and go with Peter McGill saw him surge into the box where he was brought down for a penalty. John Sweeney stepped up to fire the ball past Brown from the spot. Two minutes later Sweeney got a second when a Scullion cross into the box fell to the Ladeside midfielder and he smashed the ball into the net from close range.

LADESIDE edged into the next round of the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup with a narrow win at Maybole.

The visitors took the lead in eight minutes when a Robbie Halliday cross found Tuohy six yards out and he deftly touched the ball past McCaulay into the net.

Maybole created their first real chance midway through the half when a quick counter attack found McDade who cut inside but his effort was blocked by Ross McKinnon.

Kilbirnie got back onto the attack just after and Crerand headed a Tuohy cross just over before Tuohy himself fired a shot which was touched just wide of goal/

The visitors kept looking for a second goal and good play by Arnault Bembo and James Finlay set up Tuohy but his effort was deflected wide.

In 25 minutes Finlay collected the ball 12 yards out but pulled his shot wide. A minute later Finlay had a chance from the penalty spot after Halliday was brought down in the box but Martin McCaulay saved the spot kick.

Maybole were reduced to 10 men for the last 13 minutes when Aidan Connor was shown a second yellow after pulling Finlay back just outside the box. Tuohy curled the resultant free-kick just over the bar from 20 yards.
