PROMOTION is being targeted by four new ARDROSSAN WINTON ROVERS players who have all enjoyed major successes in the past few seasons.

Ryan Caddis has joined from IRVINE MEADOW, along with fellow striker and former team-mate Greig Mitchell, who was on loan at Winton Park last season.

Also on board are defender Robbie Cochrane, previously with Kilbirnie Ladeside, Largs Thistle and Dalry Thistle and midfielder Colin Webb, who won the District League title with IRVINE VICTORIA last season Caddis (28) said: “I was only at Meadow for half a season and I was shoved before I left.

“Chris Strain (the Winton manager) tried to sign me for Irvine Meadow before. Winton are a decent wee club.

“I won the Scottish Amateur Cup with Hurlford Thistle. The target is to win the league and I am sure we can do it. We will look after ourselves and don’t care what the other teams think, The attitude is good in training. If you get good results the fans will turn out in force and I can’t wait to get started.” Mitchell (20) won the District League title with KILWINNING RANGERS two seasons ago and is looking to repeat the feat.

He told Sportscene: “It was great winning the league a couple of seasons ago and hopefully I can do it again at Winton. There’s a great buzz about the place and the ground has been revamped.

“It should be a competitive league with the likes of Buffs, Lugar and Darvel and the aim is go up. We have a lot of experienced players, including guys who have won things like Michael Wardrope and Ian Cashmore and we have made some good new signings.” Defender Cochrane (28) hopes for more glory at Winton after being spoiled by success during five glittering seasons at KILBIRNIE LADESIDE.

He said: “We won something in all of the five seasons I was at Ladeside. We went up through the leagues and won the West of Scotland Cup and District League title as well as being promoted to the Premier Division and finishing sixth the next season. Winton are a great club and a have a good set up. We have quality players and were unlucky not to go up last season. I look forward to the Rockware Glass League Cup as I have had a connection with every team we play.” Despite enjoying success with the Westenders, Webb felt it was time for a change following a chat with manager Strain.

“I enjoyed it at Vics, there’s a great bunch of boys. But Chris came to watch me at the tail end of last season and I liked what he brought to the table. He took Meadow up through the leagues and hopefully he can do the same here. The target has to be the title.

“A lot of work is going on behind the scenes at the club and training sessions are going well,” the midfielder said.
