PROMISING midfielder Ross Davidson hopes to establish himself in the Kilmarnock first team for the remaining three games after making an impressive debut in Sunday's game with Hibernian.

The match was called off in tragic circumstances early in the second half after dedicated fan Jim Haswell suffered a heart-attack and later died in hospital.

While admitting he was pleased to be called up the 19-year-old, who is just back from a loan spell with Airdrie United, said the whole occasion had been totally tinged with sadness.

He said: "It was a hard one to take on Sunday - and some of the guys saw what happened although I didn't. It was very sad what happened. But it was good to make my debut, I found out on Friday night that I would be starting and my dad and brothers were there although my mum was working and couldn't make it. I'm a Killie fan from Newfarmloch and have been home and away with them and also at the cup finals. I'm under contract next season, we have three games left and hopefully I will feature in some of those."

Boss Kenny Shiels this week paid trbute to the dedicated fan and remembered well the time he met him at a function in which the Scottish Communities Cup was being shown off.

"Outside of work Kilmarnock was Jim's life and we owe so much to the fans, without them there wouldn't be a football club. I remember well meeting Jim at a bowling club do and I was winding him up about his jumper, he took it all in good part. I have spoken to Jim's daughter and the club secretary Kirsten Callaghan has been speaking to the rest of the family. Everyone did their best to save his life but sometimes these things happen. It's been a difficult week for us," the manager said.

Meanwhile Killie have rewarded their loyal fans by cutting prices for the rea-rranged game against Hibernian next Wednesday, May 15. Admission will be 10 for adults and 5 for concessions.
