A 2-0 defeat at home to the Dens Park side ended Killie's hopes of making the Top Six last month with a double from former Rugby Park star Gary Harkins doing the damage.

Now Killie hope to finally defeat Dee whose relegation to the First Division was confirmed last week.

Shiels told Sportscene: "I wouldn't say we owe them one - we are just looking to win the football match, we have had two 0-0 draws against Dundee and lost the last one, That was disappointing but we have got over it and have to move on.

"We have also lost all three games against St Johnstone but have still beaten Hearts three times, which is a positive. We want to do well in the last three games and finish as high in the table as we possibly can."

The Killie manager this week paid tribute to the legendary Alex Ferguson after his retirement was confirmed this week following 27 years with Manchester United.

And he admitted Fergie had been a grea t source oft support to his family in time of need.

"My mother-in-law Ethel Scott was a great Manchester United fan and she was on her deathbed 10 or 12 years ago, I spoke to Sir Alex and asked if we would talk to her and he did. He didn't have to do that, he's a very warm human being," he said.
