KILMARNOCK 0

DUNDEE 1

INCONSISTENT Killie are still one point from safety after losing out to a Dundee side who look well placed to stay up.

Later boss Lee McCulloch and striker Kris Boyd insisted their team could do better following the defeat, which came a week after victory at Hamilton Accies.

McCulloch said: "Two minutes in I turned to (assistant boss) Peter Leven and said: "We're miles off it. I thought that for the full game. I felt the last 25 minutes flattered us as we deserved nothing."

Added Boyd - in his third spell at the club: "The big thing for the club is why can we not perform in front of our own fans who pay good money every week. Let's be brutally honest, who is going to pay 25 quid to watch that."

Dundee dominated the first half and home goalie Freddie Woodman made a great save from Marcus Haber early on and the same player then headed wide from a Faissal El Bakhtaoui. The home goalie pulled off a superb save to keep out a 30-yard free-kick from Tom Hateley.

However the deadlock was broken in 55 minutes when Paul McGowan floated in a cross and Haber powered home a header.

Killie came close to equalising when Gary Dicker sent a header from a Jordan Jones free-kick narrowly wide of target.

There was a late push from the hosts with a close range header from Greg Kiltie being pushed over the bar by Scott Bain, who then made a fingertip save to foil Boyd.

In injury-time a Gary Dicker header from a Cal Roberts corner-kick spun past the post as the Taysiders held on to win.
