North Ayrshire Sunday League ELMS BAR 9 SAWNEY BEANS 0

THERE was no love lost in this Valentines Day encounter at St Matthew's Academy, with Elms coming out on top for the second time this season.

With 23 players to pick from there was a major selection headache however the result shows that the right team was out on the day. Elms took control right away with captain Lee Riddex scoring in the opening minutes to set the tone for the rest of the game.

The free-scoring continued after this with another five goals before half-time setting up the resultant rout. Paul Dickson was on the scoresheet adding another two to his tally but he wasn't the only one grabbing a double. Fellow striker Derek Watt and left back Derek Stewart also chalked up a brace each. Greg Forbes played his first game in and Elms strip and was rewarded with a goal from a powerful header.

Twenty minutes from time, Riddex and Forbes were replaced by Jason Maxwell and Tony McLaughlin and it wasn't long before Maxwell had the ball in the net.

With another three points in the bag this takes Elms to second place in the league.
