LADESIDE suffered a fifth successive league defeat on Saturday as they went down to Peasy for the second time this season.

They went into the match on a high after a promising 4-0 win in the third round of the Scottish Junior Cup against FC Stoneywood seven days earlier.

The match opened with Ladeside dominating the first 20 minutes, with a chance created in the 21 minutes. Chris Malone found Chris Wilson who crossed to Graham Boyd whose shot from six yards was saved by McLeay.

However, despite their dominance, Ladeside went onto concede a goal on the half hour. A Lamont corner-kick was picked up by Irvine whose header then passed Chris Fahey and spun into the back of the net.

Right on half-time, Liam McGuinness found Chris Craig who cut back inside to attempt a pass to Boyd and Stevie Meechan but unfortunately the players were too late to arrive to the ball which was six yards from goal.

Going into the second half, Ladeside lacked belief and motivation after conceding to Petershill in the first half.

Just after the break, Malone was booked for a foul.

Some hope was brought back to the visiting squad in 63 minutes after a Wilson free-kick flew across the six-yard line and landed in the back of the net.

Ladeside had a great opportunity in 71 minutes when a cross into the box by Darren McLean found Malone who headed the ball back to Boyd but he headed wide.

However, any hopes of a comeback were crushed four minutes later as Lamont sent a cross from the right hand to McGladrigan and he netted.

Petershill sealed the victory four minutes from time as Daw beat two Ladeside defenders to then fire a shot from 18 yards which landed in the bottom right hand corner.

KILBIRNIE LADESIDE: Fahey; McLean, Wilson, Gibson, Gair, McGuinness, Borris, Meechan, Boyd, Craig, Malone. Subs: Diack, Barr, McAnespie, McMahon, Coleman.
