ACCIES welcomed West of Scotland to the Memorial Field with the home side looking for a reversal in the result after they squandered a 20 point lead when they last met at Burnbrae.

Before the match the two sides lined up for a respectful minute's silence in memory of former Captain David Kirk who recently passed away.

Allan Wilson kicked off for Accies on a dry, cold day with the wind slightly favouring West.

The kick off was cleanly caught and quickly transferred to West's Davis who punted the first of his many long kicks upfield, Bruce Hunter gathered and cleared to touch for a lineout. From the lineout the ball was spread into the middle of the pitch where a scrum was called for a knock on, Accies were penalised and Davis kicked to touch to give West an attacking lineout on Accies 22 line. After 10 minutes of play Accies had only been in their opposition half once, where as West were dominating both territory and possession, Accies were spilling ball regularly and first up tackles were not being made allowing West to attack the try line.
