AYRSHIRE STORM came as close as ever to beating Edinburgh Eagles last weekend in an absorbing contest at Peffermill.
Another cricket score looked on the cards early on but the Storm showed great character to recover and make a game of it. And on another day might even have won.
Despite the defeat, they are now assured of third place regardless of what happens in their final regular season match at home to Victoria Knights after fourth-placed Fife Lions rounded off their regular season with an 82-4 drubbing at home to leaders Easterhouse Panthers.
