LAND REFORM (SCOTLAND) ACT 2003 NOTICE OF PROPOSED ORDER TO EXEMPT LAND FROM ACCESS RIGHTS

In compliance with Section 11 (2)(b) of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 (the "Act"), the Council gives notice it proposes to make THE SOUTH AYRSHIRE COUNCIL (ROYAL TROON GOLF COURSE, AIG WOMEN'S BRITISH OPEN) EXEMPTING LAND FROM ACCESS RIGHTS ORDER 2020 (the "Order"), under Section 11 (1) of the Act. The Order will exempt the area of land comprising Royal Troon Golf Course (excluding the Ayrshire Coastal Path), which will be outlined on a plan annexed to the Order, from the access rights which would otherwise be exercisable in respect of that land by virtue of Parti of the Act:

The Order is proposed to enable the AIG Women's British Open (the "Championship") to be held, with the land being proposed specifically for temporary exemption from access rights (1) in the interests of the safety and security of participating players and the safety of staff and the public, during the Championship; and (2) to help minimise the possibility of transmission of Covid-19. It is proposed the Order will be effective during the period from: 12.00 on 15 August 2020 (or the date on which it is confirmed by the Scottish Ministers, if later) until 11.59 on 25 August 2020, inclusive.
