Firefighters had to use hydraulic rescue equipment to free a woman trapped after a two-car collision in Saltcoats on Saturday morning.
Emergency services responded to the incident in Border Avenue around 9.40am with two appliances sent from Ardrossan Community Fire Station, with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service personnel on scene within six minutes.
Watch Manager Paul Timmons, the incident commander, said: “We liaised with the ambulance team and determined the safest way of freeing the woman was to remove the car’s roof.
“Our crews stabilised the vehicle and made sure a system of glass management was in place before using hydraulic rescue equipment to conduct a safe and effective road rescue operation.
“We were working closely with paramedics who were providing her with treatment.
"She was moved to an ambulance and taken to Crosshouse Hospital, where of course we wish her the very best.”
