THE lack of promised redevelopment in Saltcoats was slammed this week during a public meeting.
Councillor for Saltcoats and Stevenston Ronnie McNicol revealed all in a passionate speech to North Ayrshire Council.
It came as Cllr McNicol also made a plea for Saltcoats to be listed as North Ayrshire’s capital.
Mr McNicol said: “Eight years ago we had promises from Irvine Bay Regeneration Company to regenerate Saltcoats town centre.
"Design plans were discussed but never came to fruition. What did we get? Some red lights positioned on the harbour.
“We were then promised a paper by NAC to prioritise the key towns of Irvine and Saltcoats.
"What do we get – a paper for a vision for Irvine.
"No paper for a vision for Saltcoats.” For the full story see this week's Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald.
